TUSCUMBIA, Ala. (WHNT) – Organizers of the annual Helen Keller festival say the event continues to evolve, and attract people from across the world. This year, the festival is expected to attract up to twenty thousand people. The festival is known for its family friendly activities music and an annual performance of the Miracle Worker.
It’s something resident Robert Young says is worth a trip.
“It’s a great event. We’ve been to it many many times. It’s wonderful,” said Young.
The 36th annual Helen Keller festival will start on Monday and the city is getting ready in many ways.
Tuscumbia parks and recreational director, Joel Kendericks, says preparing for the festival is a team effort.
“We like to get some volunteers that help clean downtown and the areas that are going to be a lot of activities,” said Kendericks.
